Overview
Understanding the butterfly valve
A butterfly valve turns a disc inside the pipe through 90°. Its short face-to-face length and low weight make it the economical choice for large diameters compared with gate or ball valves.
Concentric (resilient-seated) designs suit water and general service; double and triple eccentric high-performance designs handle higher pressure, temperature and tighter shut-off requirements.
