Overview
Understanding the globe valve
A globe valve closes by pressing a disc onto a seat in the flow path. This gives good flow control and excellent shut-off, at the cost of higher pressure drop than gate or ball valves.
Y-pattern bodies reduce pressure drop and suit high-pressure steam; angle valves combine a valve and an elbow; bellows-sealed versions prevent stem leakage in hazardous fluids.
